I always leave the knife block out with knives in it. I have little plastic basket I leave out as well. Both always stayed in place for me.

Thanks for the pictures, Scott.

Our sink insert )one piece Corian) is in the basement of our house. If I am cooking I need my sink, so I have no use for the thing at all. I don't leave anything out unless it is on a sticky pad.

Recently travelled over 12K miles over 3 months coffee maker and rice steamer on the counter. Never had an issue. Many mountain roads all throughout the west. Our rig runs bretty smooth we encountered many rough roads.
Like Scott mentioned slow down and try to anticipate.
Scott enjoy your wonderful trip. Thanks for all the great pics.
Go Well!

Weather was cool on Alaska. Highs of 70 on average and lows of 50. They aren't getting the heat wave we had back home while we were gone.

As for rough roads - you haven't seen anything rough until you travel the Alaska highway. Lol. Off road hunting in my 4X4 is smoother.

Rather than give up counter space to a knife block, I bought a magnetic knife holder at Ikea which is fastened to the wall. The knives stay put even in transit.

And to prove how rough the roads are.....low tire pressure warning on right rear truck tire coming into Haines Junction from Tok. Had to change over to spare. Nothing open in Haines Junction on Friday at 5pm. Drove with spare to Whitehorse Saturday AM and straight to the tire shop in Whitehorse figuring I picked up a nail. Nope, cracked a $500 aluminum wheel on the truck!!! Luckily they had a steal rim in my size so I could remount the tire and put the spare back - don't want to run without a spare tire up here!!

It takes a lot of force to crack a high quality aftermarket aluminum rim! That's the worst stretch of road - from the Canadian Border to about 100 miles out of Haines Junction. Slow enough leak it took that long to register. Was out of air by morning.

Wow.... did you check the rest to be sure they are ok? I would say this is not a trip for ST tires that are barely enough for your rigs weight.

Trailer is holding up well!! Tandem wheels take a lot of the harshness out of the road. The jarring on the rear truck wheels is pretty harsh with those roads - a lot of severe shocks - especially with 2,800lbs of pin weight. I'm going to detail some preparation for travellers when I get back and also map the sections of highways.

Travelled from Watson Lake, YT to Smithers,BC down the Stewart Cassier Highway (#37). 510 mile trip - took 12 hours to complete with breaks, road conditions and slow speed limits. I don't recommend that for most. My neighbor at the RV Park here took 3 days to cover the same distance and he looked at me like I was crazy.

I've got to say it...I'm addicted to this thread! Almost feels like we're the ones taking the trip. Thank you so much for documenting this!!!! Very well done and I love the trip information that you've been passing on to the rest of us. That's the kind of thing that only another true traveler would even think about. Thanks again!

Took a walk up to Twin Falls just below the Hudson Bay glacier at Smithers, BC. First pic of the falls. Second of the glacier they come down from. A little cloudy up there this morning. That white stuff above the falls is cloud. In the pic to follow, the clouds at different levels frame the glacier. I got better pics later with my Canon with fewer clouds but my battery died on my phone before then.
