I keep wavering about a new truck. Because I really need one or just want one I am not sure. Not sure I really want or need a diesel. I did look at a 2011 F-250 with a 6.2 gas engine. It is a really pretty truck and actually even matches the camper. Opinions welcome.
Ford 6.7 PSD.... my two cents, had both, won't go back to gas to pull anything. What's a "duramax"?? I never heard diesel and Chevrolet in the same sentence that could pull anything....other than a muscle or two when you have to push it

Besides all the power when towing with a diesel, the greatest benefit is being able to pull into truck stops to fuel up. Most gas stations are not configured for maneuvering through it when towing. I added an aux. fuel tank, and only have to stop once a day to fill up when traveling long distances.
I've thought about the auxiliary tank. But right now I've improved my towing MPG's by 30% and my tank is 20% larger. So I'm as happy as can be . I have been looking into some aftermarket replacement tanks that can give me an additional 20 gallons or more.
Another big difference I found with going from a 1500 to a 3500 is stopping. Stopping is even more important than going.
