Where do you store your rig in winter?
Hi Everyone,
This will be my first winter with the 270BH. For all of this summer it's been in my driveway, which is extremely convenient. No complaints from my family but my neighbor thinks it brings down property values in the neighborhood -- but he complains about everything.
The only thing about keeping it in my driveway are trees -- lots and lots of trees. The roof is starting to get covered in leaves and is getting generally stained. As Fall rolls in, it's gonna get worse.
So, I got myself a storage spot, which is at a local small storage place. Basically it's just a spot in a gravel lot with some other RV's. My spot unfortunately has a pine tree next to it. Other spots have nothing. But that's another story.
I've been considering the idea of storing it at a campground, preferably one that we like to go to on a regular basis. The only thing is that most all of the campgrounds we like to go are 2-3 hours away.
The pro's would be that I can head out to go camping without having to haul it.
The cons would be that I can't check on it from time to time or make repairs/updates.
The cost is the same to store it locally vs. the campground.
I'm wondering what you all do. Does experience show that it's better to have the rig close to home or does it not matter?
Thanks!
Mike

I wish I had the 5er when I had it put up. I would have made it about 2 feet wider and 4 feet longer.

Over the past 6 years I have had it parked in storage. I like some of your neighbors do not like to see the trailer in the driveway or parked on the street. Since moving to Washington and having a larger yard I am in the process of building a cover like DavisK to park it in.

Is that one of the national car port brands? I need to do something similar. I have plenty of room to park it but because of all the trees surrounding, roof cleaning consumes a lot of my time.

Mid Oct to mid April - it is parked inside a re-purposed horse riding thingy.. No more horses - but it does a great job of keeping Mother nature and old man winter from terrorizing my rig over the nasty east coast Canadian winter....

Not to hijack the question asked But frank winterizing will be more than changing shorts to long pants like in the past ... I have to find out how to use the pink stuff and I just thought with it out in the cold and some snow it was the least I could do. I would also not worry about anything getting wet inside during the heavy rain.

In south Texas, that would be the last and first week of the year when the temps drop below 50!

We chose to live in an HOA controlled neighborhood so the yards are nice...
so unless we spend $10k plus for an enclosed matching rv carport, we have to park elsewhere..
Got on google maps and did a little searching and found a farmer that decide to put in an rv storage lot about 10 minutes from the house...
it's a nice security controlled access with covered storage AND 20 amp electricity for $65 per month !
MORE than happy to pay that !

Only 12 ft. high. Wish now I had went 14 ft.
Has cement floor and it does what I want. I'm very happy to have a building right here.

Yes way cheaper than trying to build a pole structure from scratch and since I keep my trailer on my rural, read way out in woods property, I can throe up a cheap tarp on windward side in winter time.
Lloyd has a great solution, but outta my price range right now!
