Extended warranties

I bought a 2016 Redwood Crossroads in July and want to know if anyone has any information on extended warranties for this trailer. I am with good Sam at the moment but was wondering if there was any other warranty companies that are better out there.

A little secret on extended warranties. Statistically speaking, they always benefit the warranty seller.. not the buyer. You're better off going without it as long as you can accept the risk that something may break that you need to pay out of pocket to fix.

Don't allow the RV dealerships line about labor cost fool you. There are plenty of independent honest RV repair guys out there that would be more than happy not to charge you the astronomically high labor rates that some of the big outfits charge.

BTW.. in the RV industry, you'll see a lot of low wage low skill employees working there. There are some standards but even at the big RV dealerships you'll find people that haven't been working on RV's that long.

Just my opinion.. others will probably differ. None of this is rocket science.

Well I'm a little worried about some of the things that needs to be done to this trailer. The seller wasn't completely honest about what issues that it had. I don't know if Good Sam will honor fixing something that was pre-existing. I'm living in it full-time.

Take it somewhere and have them do an inspection. The expensive bits are basically the roof and the walls.

I personally would not buy a Rv without a warranty. I have used it in the past and was very satisfied.

Here are a few I found:
https://wholesalewarranties.com/

https://www.eaglevisionrv.com/

https://americasrvwarranty.com/

https://americasrvwarranty.com/quote/tbc

https://www.rvusa.com/rv-extended-warranty-quote

I haven't check them out yet, but you can do your research. Not sure they will cover previous problems

Thanks for the warranty info. I found one that covers better then Good Sam. I'm still trying to figure out how to post on here. If I don't answer right away I'm not trying to be disrespectful. Haven't figured out how to upload pictures yet.

Don't even think about buying the Good Sam warranty. We bought a 5 year one when we first bought our trailer brand new. Just over a year after purchase when we were getting work done, the local Camping World noticed a separation that was happening. After a long investigation it was determined there was a problem with the connection between the chassis and the body of the camper. Good Sam rejected covering because of "Bowed walls". There was nothing ever identified by the service department or the insurance adjuster ever dealing with bowed walls. The Service Manager could not believe it. He totally tried to say what he could and still remain employed by them but said it was total BS!. We tried to argue and would have had to bring Good Sam to court which if you look up is not very productive. They have many lawyers lined up to argue. Cost us 4.5K out of our wallets. They are not worth the paper they are printed on.

When I post pictures I take them directly from a file on my computer.
See if this helps.

How to add photos to a post
  • Click reply and scroll down to bottom of text box.
  • Click "go advanced" add text to message window and then scroll down.
  • Click "Manage attachments" A separate window will pop up.
  • Click "browse" Then select the file to be uploaded. Be sure that the photo is appropriately sized. 800 x 600 pixels (or smaller) and no more than 400K is recommended. Forums software will automatically reduce the size, but smaller size photos will upload much faster. You may select several photos to upload at the same time by repeating the last step.
  • Click "Upload" After pics have loaded close the pop-up window
  • Click "submit reply" to mount the text of your message - photos will automatically appear at the bottom of your post.

Also, if you go to this link it will provide a lot of answers to questions that new members have.

I am of the opinion that extended warranties only benefit the Dealer. This a very profitable part of the sale.
Save the money that you would put into a warranty for a rainy day fund for anything RV related. You'll come out ahead.
The only way that a warranty company will cover a pre-existing problem is if you can convince them it's not.
Just fix it and move on.
