Genuine Simulated Wet Wood

Genuine Simulated Wet Wood

My travel trailer’s Genuine Simulated Wood finish is a grey/brown/green color. About 10 days ago a small leak developed in the water inlet / water pump cabinet in the bathroom. Over night a small puddle formed. I replaced the washer and all is fine now with the exception of:
The end grain of Genuine Simulated Wood soaked up water about 9 inches, swelled and split the plastic wood color covering. I placed an electric space heater on it for 7 days and nights but it can’t dry because the plastic coating won’t allow the moisture to escape.
The only thing I can think of is to cut the coating off the inside of the cabinet so the moisture can evaporate.

Any other ideas?

I've ordered these moisture detectors to install to help prevent a repeat. Run on 9v batteries.

Yea since it swelled you’ll have to take it out. If you can’t find the same thing. Just replace it with wood stained to your color. Maybe get have to remove it all the way around to make it match.
