Skylight cracking
So the outer portion of our skylight in the living area is cracking and needs to be replaced. Has anyone done this themselves and is it a hard job? I’m handy so I could tackle this myself. 2013 Zinger ZT260BH

Ours did the same. Over torqued screws! Ours was like 28 x 28 x10. Measure and order a new one. I suggest fender washers under the screw heads.

I already had inners on both the living area and bathroom done after first winter due to cracks around screws. It’s the outer that has become very brittle and cracks just touching it.

I’ve replace skylights and bathroom and bedroom max fans and their all pretty much the same. You just have to remove the sealant around the edges and remove the screws. Make sure area is clean when you replace. And as Will said don’t over tighten the screws. Then use Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant over the edges and screws. Not hard job just takes a little time. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I forgot to say you use a strip of Butyl tape on the bottom of skylight or fan before you screw it down to the roof; then use the self leveling sealant. Remember the new skylight screw holes might not match the old holes; that’s ok if it don’t. Here’s a video to show you the process. It also goes into wiring up the fan, but the installation is the same.

So I go to local dealer to get a price. $343.00 for just the outer piece. Yikes!!! So I go online and find one for 155 shipped from icondirect.ca. Has anyone dealt with this company? Any reviews?

I seem to have a real oddball size as RV place had smaller rectangular ones for 29.95. Couldn’t find on Amazon so I just ordered from Icondirect.ca. It looks simple enough after going up and measuring flange size.

Well I got my skylight today. It’s a lot better than the paper thin one on the camper. Even the one over the shower is better than the living room skylight!!!

I know. It’s a 2013 model too!!! I was cleaning the roof and touched the skylight and it cracked. It’s so brittle and a lot thinner than bathroom one or replacement I bought.

I managed to get it done. Sealant peeled off skylight like nothing. It was another story on roof. Cleaned it as much as possible and ran two rows of RV butyl tape sealant around flange. Screwed it down and applied the self levelling sealant. Didn’t realize what it would look like between the inner and outer. Had I known I would have ordered the white skylight. Then again once I’m on the ground camping and enjoying a fireside beverage it’ll look great.

Ours looks the same. I have some white peel and stick vinyl tile that will go there one day. Also gonna put a string of LED lights up there for indirect lighting for the shower.
