i had my tires replaced under warrenty due to the sidewalls cracking. i noticed today while checking the air pressure that they are load c (50 psi 15" tires)rated for 1820 lbs. this seem low to me. crossroads advertises my trailer dry weight at 6000 lbs. but when fully loaded i'm close to 8000 lbs. do you think i'll have a problem?

Your axle weight rating is 4990 so you are OK as far as specs go but your GVWR is 8010 so according to your numbers your are right at max. The new tires should be 225/75R15. If I assume your hitch weight is 1000 pounds then you have approximately 7000 pounds on your tires which means they are overloaded. This is all according to the Crossroads Zinger website. I think this is correct but let someone else chime in and correct me if I am wrong.

That is your best bet. Not only will it give you your trailer weights but also let you know if you're overloading your TV. Be sure to get two weights; one with the truck and trailer and one with the truck only.

I am assuming all the data Stan posted is correct. I didn't look it up. But my math says that 4 tires rated at 1820 lbs each equals a capacity of 7280 lbs. So you are within specs, barely.

i'm not so happy about that. being barely within spec. can anyone with a 32 qbs check their tires and tell me what load and weight rating you have. i'm wondering if the tire company that replaced my tires under warrenty sent me the right ones.
i weighed my truck and trailer when we left the other day. i'm going to go back and re-weigh myself. the woman said i was 17,140 truck and trailer.i don't think thats correct. this is a municipal scale.(local dumps). i did not have time to disconnect and weigh my truck. i'm going back out thursday for memorial day...i'll try again.

I have a 32qb and the tire say 1820lbs...same as yours. I guess I had never given this any thought, but why would they cut it so close? I just had mine replaced (for free) because the sidewalls were cracking. I assumed it was because the trailer sat on a lot for a year before I bought it. I do plan I buying better tires when these need replaced.

i'm going to give randy a call wensday to see what he thinks. the gvwr is 8010lbs. 1820(freestar tires) x 4 =7280...that leaves 720lbs for tounge weight? i'm really not happy with that.i'll post back. Edited by: spinella

By this time next year I'll have 12,000 miles on my tires. (Hopefully ! ) I'll put Maxiis on I think, unless something else better comes along.

powerking/towmaster st225/75 15 D.....from the factory 65#
Would like an E but word here on the forum that my rims won't take 80 psi although I have yet to confirm that. I also hear 16's won't fit, and I'm not sold on LT's.

I just put maxxis 15inch 10 ply tires on our cruiser. The max load rating cast into the back of the rims is the same max load rating as the tires. I found 80 psi caused the trailer to have toobouncy of a ride so I'm running at 72psi. The michelin rep here says they run 70 psi in their 10 ply trailer tires.

thanks guys. i spoke with randy on wensday. he said he will take my tire issue to crossroads engineers. we missed each other at the end of the day so i'll speak to him today and see what they came up with. i'll post my results.
-ed
p.s. here are my numbers.
1.dry weight = 6000lbs.
2.gvwr = 8010
3.tire rating = 1820lbs x 4 = 7280lbs
4.7280lbs - 8010lbs. = 730lbs.
crossroads list the tounge weight at 1010lbs.
i've read that your tire rating should be 20% higher than your gvwr.
just check out my rims. they are rated for 2050lbs. (15x5)Edited by: spinella

OK, I have the 32 QB so my tires are the 15 inch NANCO with the same rating.
If the rim cant hold 80 psi and the next load range is more appropriate...why not change both?
I am heading to myrtle beach in July - I did it the 1st summer too. My tires are showing signs of dry cracks but very little mileage. I should be changing them this June by what I've been reading.
You guys agree?? Let me know.

just spoke to randy mishler. this is how he explained it.my gvwr is 8010lbs. my axles are rated for3500lbs my hitch weight is supposed to be 1010lbs. so 3500 x 2 = 7000lbs 7000lbs. - 8010lbs gives me 1010lbs. for my hitch weight. so my tires that are rated for 1820lbs. x 4 = 7280lbs. and therefor overrated 280lbs. he said that they rate by the weekest link and in my case its the axles.(3500lbs.) i think its still too close a gap. i'm thinking maybe i should mess around with the weight in the trailer. maybe i don't have enough weight on the tounge and its putting a extra load on my tires.(the look underinflated). i think i'm going to find a better tire and replace these.

Most of us agree that the factory tires are of poor quality. I'm thinking of replacing mine as I'm beginning to see side wall cracks on all the tires including the two that aren't in the sun. So what are the opinions on best tires for time and travel? Michelin, Good-Year, Tow Master, Maxxis
