Hello from Texas, question on double towing

My recently purchased Cruiser Aire 5th Wheel has a receiver hitch with a rating label that states 300 lb tongue and 3000 lb overall weight.

Is my fifth wheel pre-wire for lights to the trailer I would be pulling? Nothing is obvious when I crawl under the rear of trailer . A friend said thre prewiring may be under the belly panel by the hitch.

All help would be appreciated.

Do you know if the hitch is a factory one? My new 5th, but different brand, has the plug attached to a bracket and it came with a factory hitch of the same rating.

It appears to be factory. But I can’t see any wiring for the trailer

The belly panel is pretty easy to take down.. typically, it's held in place by some large screws w/ body washers.

If you were to take out 5 or 6, I bet you'd have enough room to stick your hand in there and feel if there is wiring.

If not, it isn't that difficult to run wiring from front to back.

As said already, pull the belly pan. I do find it hard to believe it’s a factory hitch and no easy spot for wiring. I also don’t see it as standard equipment or as an option to have one, at least on Crossroads website.

My Cruiser came from the factory with a hitch on the back. Same weight ratings. Also had a wire hanging there for trailer lights.

Mine also has a hitch but never really looked for wires since I never planned to tow anything behind it. Have me curious now, I will have to check it on my next trip to the coast.

I had a professional welder check the welds on the unit and he said it appears to be a factory install especially with the capacity label attached to the hitch.

Does anyone know where at Crossroads I could contact to confirm.

Does the hitch have attachments for safety chains? If so, then it should be wired for a 4-pin connection. If not, then it is probably not wired for lights.

Best to check with a hitch installer to see if it is in fact factory or the previous owner installed. Some owners put these on just for attaching a bicycle carrier but they should not be used for towing anything. These may come with rating labels but are not installed properly.

If it is in fact a factory install then the rating numbers on the hitch are accurate and the hitch is installed properly. The issue with the wiring could be that they missed putting them on at the factory as someone went for coffee and forgot. Lots of that happens.
