New Owner/1st RV

Pulled the trigger on a new Sunset reserve ST26RB last week. Dealer states about 6-8 weeks for delivery from the factory. I spent 3 days at our local show in just about every make/model imaginable and narrowed it down to 2 models from CR. I initially signed for the Rezerve 33RL, but after sleeping on it I called the dealer and swtiched to the ST26RB.

I've been lurking around here for a month or so and learned alot already. Look forward to learning much more!

Congratulations on the new ST26RB. We are new owners of a Cruiser Aire ourselves. Our first outing will be for 4 days starting Wednesday of next week. We have found the forum to be a great place. I think you will too.
Congrats again.

Thanks all! The wife is already shopping for all the interior stuff like bed spreads and the like. I've been looking at the utility type stuff like regulators, cords, hoses and mats. We will be empty nestors this year so this is going to be our thing. I was worried she would not get into it but she has already picked out our places to go for the next couple of years.

I have only one reservation and that is how the dealer will be at delivery time. I plan to do a full PDI so we'll see how it goes.

Did you inform your dealer that you wanted a full, thorough PDI?
If not you should. I would recommend you send him a copy of the PDI you intend to perform. That way he will know what you expect, and it might eliminate any arguments about it.

Since we will be researching our "next" 5er this year for next, your suggestion Lloyd, of sending the PDI to the dealer before pickup is an outstanding idea! It certainly would get you and the dealer on the same page right from the start. Thanks

By sending the PDI list to the dealer, it also gives them a heads up so they can allocate enough time to accommodate you.
A complete PDI takes a considerable amount of time verses the get you in and back out as fast as possible.

That is really good advise...I never thought of that when I took possession of my 5er...

Great idea! No, I did not give them the heads up but I've added this to my "to do" list.

When our daughter wanted a more thorough PDI, the service person said they did not have time as there were others that day. The service person also said a certain test had been performed, and we discovered that it had in fact, not been.

Videotape your pdi. Make them show you, not tell you how to do everything and you return the demo. This includes physically showing you which way to turn the handles for winterizing. Believe me, this video was invaluable when we did our very first winterizing. Make sure you get a water pressure regulator (very cheap at Wal-Mart) and get a surge protector with high and low voltage protection. We carry about 50 ft of fresh water hose (some carry 100 ft) and we carry about 35 ft of sewer hose.

Well after a long wait here she is....PDI was not fun in the pouring rain. Original guy that was to do the walk through with me broke his hand (do not know exactly how) prepping my unit. Replacement did a good job! Only one item (pinched wire from tongue jack to battery) found!.
