There is only so much insulation you can get into a 2" wall - true 4 season campers have thicker walls and other attributes that makes them 4-season friendly. Of course, many brands label a camper 4-season but dedicate a page or so in their warranty to saying that the unit isn't intended for extended living, cold weather living, etc.

So, if I were looking to truly have a rig to "live" in and I expected it to winter anythign harsher then a Florida winter it would have to feature more robust construction and a warranty that reflects full timer use.

So in all fairness, living in your Rushmore in a winter climate is expecting the unit to perform against it's design limits. JMHO.

I have lived in my rv in kansas and nebraska in the winter down to zero. With a little common sense and a heated water hose or pex with heat tape I have had no problems. One good thing to do is if you are going to go out for the day or go to work, turn the heat down! And I mean like to 55. This will cut down on condensation. It doesnt take very long to heat an rv up when you come home. I agree rv's are hard to heat but I have not had the condensation problems others have had.

We have a Rushmore nightmare. 2012 35RL. It has only 1600 miles on it. owned only 20 months.
Ours has spent more time in Dealership than we have had time to enjoy it. Have cancelled three trips because of it being in shop for issues.
Latest issue: Cracks in front fiberglass cover about 8 of them.
Other issues:
A/C stuggles to coool unit down.
Questioning the R value/ rating
Ice maker issues.
Frig didn't cool down (two occasions) Had to pull and send back to mfg for repairs.
Frig didn't switch to gas while traveling. (sound familiar)
Trailer frame has holes in side big enough for a Rat/ small animal to crawl in. I assume trailer was set up for a fourth glide and left holes open.
Bedroom glide keeps eating gaskets
Plus a whole slew of components issues. that I won't go into detail.
Really bought into the RV But disappointed in the Quality.
