I am looking at a 30 SB and was wanting to know what pros and cons are? At one time I see a post on the furnace not heating very good. Would like any information anyone has on this. Thanks.

Mostentry to mid level units have poor heating systems but you can improve them with a few simple things. I would not let that hold you back.

I have a 30sb and I'll be spending the winter in it this year where we'll get snow and freezing conditions. I purchased some small electric heaters and that should work OK. I'm in it until I retire April 1, 2010 and I've spent winters in an old 1950's single-wide. How much worse could it be?

We had a 2009 30SB.
On the bad side, the bed was really jammed into the slide so it was impossible to make the head of the bed. Also since the bed was so close to the wall whoever sleeps on the side closest to the nose has to crawl out the end of the bed. This is just part of the price you have to pay to get this much rig in a relatively small size RV. The entertainment center leaves a lot to be desired. But then maybe they have improved on it since. On ours, even a 26" TV had to be strapped in, into hooks that I had to install. We could not find a TV to fit that entertainment center. For some reason the Dining table/chairs just seemed to small. I don't think I'm fat and have never had a problem in our other 10 5th wheels. But this one would not accomodate 4 average size adults. We had thought about getting a smaller table or turning the table sideways with only two chairs.
On the good side, it is a lot of rig for the money. The open living room/dining/kitchen combination provides maximum living space for a rig that size. The enclosed bathroom is something we really miss. As far as the furnace thing, when we did use it, it was as good as any we've had in our previous 10 5th wheels. However we rely a lot on small electric space heaters and they really work well on the 30SB. I do not think the furnace is an issue in this rig. Everything considered, the 30SB is a nice rig.

Hey guys Thanks for the input as we are going to look at one tomorrow. Sounds like we have a 50-50 chance of liking it. We really want the side bath as this is an issue. Like the idea of the 16" tires. Will let you know what we done.

We have a 2009 (early model, so no cherry).
We had settled on 3 units, sundance, open range, and the Kingston. Went with the Kingston 30SB for the layout and construction. Have enjoyed ours. The furnance works fine, we found that with all the glass in the back on really cold days (20s) that we need a portable heater to help. We have the fireplace, but the fan does not put out a lot of volume.
We opted for our own TV, and have a 32" mounted in the entertainment center.
Not many negatives, most of our issues have been fit/finish that should have been caught in QA at the factory. What we like the best about this unit is that it was the smallest one we could find, with a completely enclosed bathroom. Many other units in this size range put the shower or sink in the bedroom.
Look in the threads and you will see our Yellowstone trip report on the performance of the trailer.

Well; I just got our first snow this weekend (about 6inches)and it got down to 27%. I heated the 30sb with the furnace and 2 space heaters then went with just the furnace set at 64 when I went to bed. Everything worked great overnight and when I got up this morning I turn up the heat to 71% and everything was cozy. Worked great!

Well we went shopping Sat the 3rd and they wanted way to much to trade so I left them a bid and left. Will see how hungry they are. It has set on his lot for awhile as the stripes is peeling. Really like the setup. Plenty of room around the bed alot more than what we have now. And liked the side bath. Will see if he calls back. Again Thanks for all your input.
Congrats on your new one Bipeflyer will have to look it over when we come down,So your camping is not over yet!
