With all the snow out there, I think it should be a John Deere "tractor" , with the heated cab of course.

I went out to the garage this morning and.."after further review""..found that the rope was not broken but would not engage anything when pulled. Is this terminal? We're out of here in a couple of weeks and can wait for summer to get a good deal on another snowblower if necessary.
Lloyd? Frank? Anybody? Buehler?

Russ there used to be pawls that came out when the rope was pulled there were about four or five different designs that were use. the simple thing if there is one the hub that attaches to the motor whetre the starter mounts to is shattered. Tho the simple thing is leave now

What I have found in the past on some of the rewinds, is they get gummed up in there.
That is if they aren't broken.
The pawls get gummed up and can't/won't come out.
I have had some success by taking the rewind off and cleaning it out/up in gasoline. If you have a different cleaner of choice that will get rid of the crud, then that is what you should use.

How close to you guys are the fires out there? Hopefully everything is OK.
Ya, I know, Russ is in AZ.

We're a long way from the fires. No worries yet, but I sure feel for the folks in the Conifer area. It's really nice there. Watch the fire coverage every night on NBC Nightly News. They sent a "Hot Shot" crew from around here up to Colorado yesterday.

Its about 23 miles as the crow flies. There is a lot of haze but not the smoke and cinders like we got during the Hayman fire back in 02. Russ is right its beautiful country in that area, Its a shame we could not save some of last years overabundance of moisture this is shaping up to be a bad year and the beetle kill is on both sides of the divide now and just increases the danger exponentially

Frank;
Like I told Janet we are so sorry for your loss.Our prayers are with you all at this time.I was glad to see you made it back in time for the 1st Ace McNeely Music Fund Funfest. I wish we could attend. I tried the links I could find and was unable to locate an address to mail a donation to honor the memory of such a promisingyoung man.
Let us know when you are back in CO. we will see if we can escape to visit.
Eric and Deanna

Yep when I was in it going over the passes, I suddenly remembered why I left and would only go back in July and August. Of course Last time I was there for the fourth and was up in the mountains we had some small snow fall

Gee whizz Lloyd you do not have to talk bad about me,I keep coming back like a bad check. Hoover goes out every day waits on the mail man to bring him your coffee. But alas it has not shown up yet. Is there a tracking number???? Going out this week end to Roosevelt State park. Me and Pups first and Janet later. Temps here are in the lower 90's, and raining right now so it will cool off soon. I think we are having cooler weather than Lake Geneva and Chicago

Frank, I do believe it is cooler down your way than here in the greater Chicago area. Lately everyday has been near 100 with dew points in the 70's. Been thinking about going south to cool off.
